Kim Il Sung Praised as National Liberator, Defender of Global Peace

Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- It is the common view of world politicians, historians and strategists that the Japanese imperialists' defeat and Korea's liberation were ascribable to the anti-Japanese armed struggle led by Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people. A pressman of south Korea, who authored a book about Kim Il Sung's feats for national liberation, said: The base of General Kim Il Sung-led guerrilla unit was the area of Mt. Paektu and his protean guerrilla tactics utterly defeated the Japanese Kwantung Army. The Japanese army had waged the "punitive operations" against the guerrilla unit for many years, but in vain. Indeed, General Kim Il Sung is the legendary hero and national liberator who had the one million-strong Kwantung Army of Japan, styling itself "leader of Asia", under his thumb. Izvestia, a newspaper of the former Soviet Union, reported that the Korean-Japanese war was that in which the mentally strong army commanded by Kim Il Sung defeated in succession the mentally weak army of imperial Japan. Clark, former commander of the U.S. forces in the Far East, told that General Kim Il Sung performed admirable feats as a commander resisting the army of Japan for many years until its defeat and his name became an object of all Koreans' respect and a symbol of patriotism in Korea. The anti-Japanese armed struggle waged by Kim Il Sung was also conducive to the global peace. In this regard, Stalin said at a banquet in honor of Kim Il Sung in Juche 38 (1949) that the latter was a genuine proletarian internationalist and a paragon of the communist movement as he defended the Soviet Union with arms at the cost of blood from the imperialist aggression in the East. |
