Meeting with Participants in International Solidarity Event for Celebrating Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Held
Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- A meeting with the participants in the international solidarity event for celebrating the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation took place at Yanggakdo International Hotel on Sunday.

Present there were a delegation of the Laos-Korea Friendship Association led by Vice-Chairman Khamphanh Sitthidampha, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the People's Supreme Court, delegation of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations headed by its President Vu Xuan Hong who doubles as co-chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea and Helmi El Hadidi, chairman of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization, and other delegations and delegates of friendship and solidarity organizations of different countries and regions and figures of international organizations. They are visiting the DPRK to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Present there were Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who doubles as vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People, officials concerned, those who experienced and witnessed the human rights abuses of the U.S. and its followers, and experts on human rights issue.

Jon Ku Gang, lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, and Rim Chan Ju, a war veteran, bitterly condemned the U.S. imperialists for killing Koreans by the most brutal method including germ warfare that was strictly banned by international law during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Hong Myong Gi, former unconverted long-term prisoner, and Pak Kwang Hyok, student of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, referred to the enemies' brutal tortures, imposition of the ideological conversion and temptation and abduction, saying that south Korea is indeed a veritable hell and worst tundra of human rights and the puppet group are maniacs hell-bent in the confrontation with the fellow countrymen.

Kim Chun Sil, member of the Korean Committee on Measures for the Sexual Slavery for Japanese Army and Drafting Victims, disclosed the true nature of the Japanese authorities' anachronistic acts of evading their responsibility for redressing their past crimes and their hostile policy towards the DPRK, adding that they are embellishing the crimes Japan committed against humanity and its human, material and spiritual plunder without making any apology and reparation for them, though seven decades have passed since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists.

Ri Kyong Chol, room chief of the Law Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences, and Mun Ok Hui, head of a department of the Grand People's Study House, bitterly denounced the U.S., the south Korean puppet group and other hostile forces for abusing the genuine human rights of the DPRK and infringing upon the independence and sovereignty after hosting the "office on human rights in north" in south Korea.

Fumihiro Himori, co-vice chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea and chairman of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Peter Woods, co-chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea, and Iraklis Tsavdaridis, executive secretary of the World Peace Council, in their speeches expressed their will to raise the voices expressing support and solidarity for the Korean people in their just struggle to achieve the country's reunification and build a thriving socialist nation.
