Minju Joson Accuses Japanese Reactionaries of Challenging Demand of International Community

Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- In the Japanese prime minister's recent "statement to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII" published on the 70th anniversary of Japan's defeat, Japan did not make honest admission and apology for its history of aggression. Commenting on this, Minju Joson Tuesday says this has touched off denunciation and resentment of the broad international community. It is because Japan is blatantly challenging the demand of the international community for its past liquidation, the commentary notes, and goes on: The Japanese reactionaries are ignoring the heinous crimes against humanity committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past because they are trying to embellish the history of overseas wars of aggression and instill pride of it into the rising generations in a bid to hurl them to conquering other nations in the future. To this end, they are unhesitatingly distorting and rewriting history textbooks and visiting Yasukuni Shrine. It is as clear as noonday that in case the militarily expanded Japan gains the right to participate in war, it would reinvade Asia as it has no guilty conscience on the history of overseas aggression. The Japanese reactionaries had better bear in mind that revival of militarism and policy for overseas expansion would not bring a bright future to Japan. The way-out and future of Japan lie in making apology and reparation for the past crimes, getting reconciled with the Asian countries and opting for the road of peace. Japan should recollect the history of the past crimes, seriously repent of itself and get itself ready to turn over a new leaf with the 70th anniversary of its defeat as a momentum. |
