S. Koreans Demand Halt to UFG

Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea held press conferences in Seoul and other parts of south Korea simultaneously on August 17, demanding a halt to Ulji Freedom Guardian (UFG) joint military drills kicked off by the U.S. imperialists and south Korean war maniacs.

Recalling that the "tailored deterrent strategy" would be comprehensively applied in UFG, the organization noted that the drills being staged pursuant to OPLAN 5027 and OPLAN 5029 are a war rehearsal to make a preemptive strike at the north in the light of their nature, troops and hardware.

The drills are also designed to meet the military interests of the U.S. and Japan including the establishment of the triangular military alliance, it charged, urging the U.S. and the south Korean regime to immediately stop the risky drills.
