The contest took place in Pyongyang, Phyongsong City of South Phyongan Province, Hamhung of South Hamgyong Province and Sariwon City of North Hwanghae Province. The contest was held divided into senior secondary, junior secondary and primary schools. They competed in 17 events including basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, Taekwon-Do and Ssirum (Korean wrestling).

Pyongyang City came first in team standing.

Forty players were selected as April 18 best players.

Present at the closing ceremony were Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the youth league, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, officials concerned and teachers of specialized sports groups.
