Present at the events were Alvaro Lopez Miera, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba who doubles as first vice-minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and chief of the General Staff of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, other officials of the ministry, teachers and cadets of the academy.

Present there on invitation were the DPRK ambassador to Cuba and staff members of his embassy.

The participants watched the Korean film "Pyongyang Today" before speeches were made.

The head of the External Relations Bureau of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces said:

Thanks to the Songun leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Il the Korean people could have all means to cope with the aggression moves of outsiders, and Korean scientists and technicians could achieve eye-opening successes in the modernization of weaponry and the development of new technology.

We are sure that the service personnel and people of the DPRK will demonstrate before the world the might of the single-minded unity on the road of Songun indicated by the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

We extend invariable support and solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle to further bolster up the military power of the country, build a thriving socialist nation and bring earlier the reunification of the country.

The participants enjoyed an art performance given by the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba.
