A police officer threatened at a gunpoint a man on his guard duty at a checkpoint in a place in Seoul recently, complaining he had snacks without him and in the end opened fire, killing him.

The officer had a record of threatening his subordinates several times at gunpoint.

As soon as the incident occurred, the police authorities charged him with only a suspicion of murder by mistake that is attributable to his lack of knowledge about gun-related rules.

The broadcasting service held that the upper echelon of the police should not handle the incident as an issue pertaining to the officer alone.
