Performance Given by State Merited Chorus and Chongbong Band for Guests of Honor in Moscow
Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- The State Merited Chorus of the DPRK together with leading members of the Chongbong Band is visiting Russia this year, the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation, the 70th anniversary of the victory of the great Patriotic War in Russia and the significant year of the DPRK-Russia friendship.

The performance for guests of honor was given by the State Merited Chorus together with the Chongbong Band at the Musical Hall Named after Tchaikovsky, a famous historic and cultural icon of Russia, on the evening of August 31 before full house.

Igor Morgulov, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kirill Stepanov, secretary of state and vice-minister of Development of Far East, Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, were among the audience.

Watching the performance were Russians of political, public and other circles and service personnel, citizens of Moscow, Koreans in Russia, DPRK Ambassador Kim Hyong Jun and staff members of his embassy in Moscow.

The performance divided into two parts raised its curtain with the playing of the national anthems of the DPRK and Russia.

Mesmerized by peculiar orchestral music of new style, the audience broke into enthusiastic applause.

Put on the stage were orchestra and male chorus "Song of the Korean People's Army" full of the spirit of sure victory of the heroic Korean People's Army, male chorus and light music "Song of Proud Guards Units", a popular famous song of the powerful revolutionary Paektusan army which defeated the U.S. imperialists, female solo and male chorus "Sea of Apples at Foot of Chol Pass" which reflects the reality of socialist Korea prospering on the road of Songun and other numbers.

Through orchestra "Selection of World Famous Songs" the performers vividly showed the appearance of the orchestra of the State Merited Chorus which has made leaping progress in its scope and the level of representation.

Orchestra, female chorus and chorus "For Peace", serial songs of Russia, presented by singers of the Chongbong Band together with artistes and instrumentalists of the State Merited Chorus immensely excited the audience.

They made truthful representation of song "Just War" which encouraged the Soviet people to turn out death-defying resistance against the fascist aggressors with burning hatred, "Song of Moscow", "Katsusha", "At Unknown Height", "Blue Handkerchief", "Day of Victory" and other songs which helped the Russian people unite in the patriotic spirit.

The performance was acclaimed by the audience from its beginning to its end as it made high ideological and artistic depiction of the militant friendship between the two countries which are growing stronger day by day on the basis of the firm faith and long-standing roots of the army and people of the DPRK.

Floral baskets were conveyed to the performers in the names of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, the Russian Army Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Named after Alexandrov, the State Academic Igor Moiseyev Dance Company and the DPRK embassy in Moscow.

Igor Morgulov, Alexandr Matsegora and other personages said that the premiere given by the State Merited Chorus of the DPRK in Russia before full house under the deep care of supreme leader Kim Jong Un is decorating the year of the Russia-DPRK friendship most significantly, adding that through the performance they would put greater spurs to the development of the Russia-DPRK relations with fresh energy.

They noted that the dispatch of the State Merited Chorus to Russia by Kim Jong Un helps them deeply realize once again how deeply he is concerned for the development of the Russia-DPRK relations.

During break and at the end of the performance huge audience were reluctant to leave their seats and lavished their praises of the performance, saying "it was fascinating performance without an equal in the world" and "an artistically perfect performance gripping the hearts of the audience".
