Memorial Service for Korean Victims in Great Kanto Quake Held
Tokyo, September 1 (KNS-KCNA) -- 92 years have passed since the Japanese imperialists mercilessly killed Koreans in the great Kanto quake. There took place a memorial service of Koreans in Tokyo before the monument to the Korean victims in the great Kanto quake in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Present at the memorial service were Pak Ku Ho, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Hwang Myong, chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon, senior officials of organizations and enterprises, chairmen of all branches, Korean residents and Japanese personages including the representative of the Tokyo Ward Assemblymen's Liaison Society for the Promotion of Japan-Korea Friendship.

The participants paid silent tribute in memory of the victims.

Hwang Myong made a memorial address.

He noted that though 92 years have passed since then, the Japanese authorities have not probed the truth behind the case but covered up the historical fact of massacring Koreans, far from making an apology and reparation for the Korean victims.

He expressed his surging indignation at the Japanese reactionaries who are threatening the lives of the Koreans in Japan and creating a terror-ridden atmosphere reminiscent of that 92 years ago when they indiscriminately massacred Koreans.

He urged the Japanese authorities to draw due lesson from the war of aggression and colonial policy in the past century including massacre of Koreans in the great Kanto quake and stop the racket of sanctions against the DPRK and unreasonable mistreatment of Chongryon and violation of human rights of Koreans in Japan.

Speeches were made by Japanese personages and Koreans in Japan.
