The Nigerian Observer on August 19 in an article titled "With might of Songun" said:

August 25 is not an ordinary day for the DPRK.

On August 25, 1960 Kim Jong Il visited the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army (KPA), starting his Songun revolutionary leadership.

Since then thanks to his Songun leadership the DPRK always protected its sovereignty and dignity in the ceaseless standoff with the U.S. styling itself "the world's only superpower" for over half a century.

The statesman on August 27 in an article titled "Day of Songun in DPRK" said he inspected a lot of units of the KPA to the last moments of his life.

He energetically led the work to strengthen the KPA into a matchless army through ceaseless long journey for Songun, the paper said, adding:

The DPRK is invincible thanks to its single-minded unity, strong in self-defence and achieving prosperity through the industrial revolution in the new century. This eye-opening reality of the DPRK would have been unthinkable without his Songun leadership exploits.
