President Kim Il Sung, the eternal leader of the Korean people, is the founder of the DPRK.

The President explored the way of building a people's power which protects and meets the interests of the people from all walks of life including workers, farmers and intellectuals from an independent stand, not wedded to the established theories or experience of other countries, prompted by his far-reaching plan to build a country of the people in Korea in his early years.

Under the grave situation the President worked heart and soul to frustrate the U.S. moves to split the Korean nation and firmly unite all the patriotic forces in the north and the south under the banner of national independence.

As a result, the historic Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Social Organizations in North and South Korea was held in Pyongyang in April, 1948.

The unity of the patriotic democratic forces in the north and the south served as a socio-political foundation for establishing a unified democratic government and at last the DPRK, the first people's democratic state in the East, was founded on September 9, 1948.

The President had led the country and its people as the top leader of the DPRK for a long period.
