The editorial said that the evidence produced by police was proved to be false at a trial of participants of the memorial service for the victims of the Sewol disaster who had been detained on August 25.

The guard section chief of Jongro Police Station in Seoul confessed at the trial that he did not work out the statement submitted to the trial on his behalf as evidence proving the suspicion of the participants of the service and it was confirmed that the seal on it belonged to the section chief a decade ago, the editorial noted, adding:

The prosecution used the evidence forged by police for prosecuting a lawyer belonging to the Bar Association for Democratic Society on the suspicion of attending the memorial service. This was an illegal act caused by the unreasonable investigation conducted to block the thorough probe into the truth about the disaster.
