The championship which kicked off in Thailand on September 6 brought together 170 men and women players from 30 countries and regions including the DPRK, Iran and Vietnam.

Kim Myong Hyok bagged three gold medals by placing first in total points on September 8. He finished first in both snatch and jerk in men's 69kg category weightlifting.

Another weightlifter Kwon Chang Il won a bronze medal in snatch event of men's 69kg category weightlifting on the same day.

Earlier, Sin Chol Bom came second in total points by finishing second in jerk and third in snatch in men's 62kg category weightlifting while Kim Su Ryon placed second in total points by finishing second in snatch and third in jerk in women's 53kg category weightlifting.

Paek Il Hwa placed second in jerk and third in snatch in women's 48kg category weightlifting.
