Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju and other senior officials of the party, state and army, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of the armed forces bodies, the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions, former unconverted long-term prisoners, heroes and persons of merits.

Also present there were overseas Koreans staying in the socialist homeland and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

Present there on invitation were foreign diplomatic envoys, representatives of international bodies and military attaches of foreign embassies here and their wives and foreign guests.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, made a speech.

He said that the history of the DPRK is a great and proud history in which the Korean people have won only victories in the defense of the country, socialist construction, confrontation with imperialism and the U.S. that has lasted for several decades and the building of a thriving socialist nation under the banner of the Juche idea and the Songun idea.

The DPRK is demonstrating its might as a political and ideological power of single-minded unity, the world's military power and the power of the youth without an equal in the world and advancing full of confidence toward beautiful future where all dreams and ideals of the people will come true as it is holding Marshal Kim Jong Un in high esteem, the speaker noted.

He underlined the need to hold President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il as the eternal leaders of the country and revolution in high esteem and dynamically advance to accelerate the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche along the road of independence, Songun and socialism opened up by them.
