The north and the south should respect and value as the idea common to the nation the idea of By Our Nation Itself which was clarified in the June 15 joint declaration and was reaffirmed in the October 4 declaration and uphold the idea as the banner of the struggle for improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving the independent reunification.

South Korea spreads the story that the results of the north-south high-level urgent contact was brought by "alliance" and "support" by outside forces. This is contrary to sincerity and efforts of compatriots to improve the inter-Korean relations and open up a broad avenue to independent reunification in the idea of By Our Nation Itself.
