National Ssirum Contest Opens in Pyongyang

| Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- The 12th National Ssirum (Korean wrestling) Contest for Grand Bull Prize opens on Rungna Islet here on Tuesday with the approach of Harvest Moon Day which falls on Sept. 27. The contest is attended by players selected from Pyongyang and Nampho cities and every province. A catch-weight event is slated for the deadline September 17 with the attendance of 11 players from every team to decide who will own the grand bull weighing one ton and the golden cowbell. Hopefuls for the event are Nam Kwang Il from Pyongyang City and Jo Myong Jin from North Phyongan Province. Nam and Jo took the third place in the 2012 and 2008 contests respectively. But experts say it is difficult to vouch for the winner as many Ssirum aces are attending the contest. |
