At the catch-weight event of the contest, Jo Myong Jin, a 35-year old worker of the Sinuiju Shoes Factory in North Phyongan Province, defeated all his rivals to win a bull overweighing one ton, the golden cowbell and a diploma.

Jo, whose weight is 92.5kg, began training Ssirum over 10 years ago and proved successful at different provincial contests. He is good in physical fitness and has excellent fortes like waist tackle.

He placed second at the catch-weight event of the Grand Bull Prize National Ssirum Contest in 2009 and third in 2008, 2010 and 2012.
