KCTU Launches General Strike
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) launched a general strike on Sept. 23 in protest against the authorities' unpopular policy, according to Voice of People, an internet paper of south Korea.

At least 10,000 members of the KCTU held a rally in Sodaemun District, Seoul that day.

Speakers condemned the authorities for seeking to put down the vital rights of the people through retrogressive revision of the labor law.

At the rally the KCTU raised the action for holding business accountable in society, hike of minimum wages and guarantee of basic labor right as demands of the general strike.

At the end of the rally the participants staged a demonstration toward Chongwadae.

The fascist police ran wild in suppression, firing tear liquid, but the demonstrators fought against them.

Police walked away more than 40 demonstrators that day.
