The school has won the first place for more than 40 times in domestic juvenile tennis tournaments, including the National Schoolchildren's Sports Contest for Jongilbong Prize.

It has won 18 trophies and nearly 900 gold medals in the tennis event.

Such successes are attributable to the painstaking efforts made by Hong Sun Ryong, who has worked as a sports teacher at the school for 30 years. He was a tennis player at the Pyongyang Sports Team before graduating from the faculty of physical culture of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education.

A number of graduates are now active as coaches and players at different sports teams and as teachers at juvenile sports schools of the country.
