Tha Win, secretary of the Yangon Regional Committee of the Union Solidarity and Development Party of Myanmar, said this in a statement on Sept. 22 on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the WPK and the 70th founding anniversary of the WPK.

The statement went on:

President Kim Il Sung founded the WPK on October 10, 1945 and led the anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution, the Fatherland Liberation War, the postwar rehabilitation and construction and the socialist revolution to victory by exceptionally enhancing the position and role of the party in the revolution and construction.

Kim Jong Il developed and enriched the outstanding idea of the President on building a party and his undying exploits and thus strengthened the WPK into a revolutionary party whose members are united in single mind guided by the Juche idea and a powerful party steering the Korean people's just struggle to victory.

Under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the WPK, it has registered shining achievements in the efforts for building a thriving nation and achieving the reunification of the country.

The statement expressed firm support and solidarity with the WPK and the Korean people in their just struggle for building a thriving nation and achieving the country's reunification on the auspicious occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the WPK.
