Kim Jong Il Highly Praised by Swiss Organizations

| Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- The Switzerland-Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea released a joint statement on September 27 on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). The statement said: Kim Jong Il was elected general secretary of the WPK on October 8, 1997. He was heir to President Kim Il Sung and great successor to the revolutionary cause of Juche and Songun. Under his leadership the DPRK was developed into a space power and a nuclear weapons state. He provided two north-south summits which resulted in the adoption of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it. Under his Songun revolutionary leadership the DPRK turned into a political and ideological power and military power. After his sudden demise, he was elected eternal general secretary of the WPK at its fourth conference by the unanimous wishes of the party, army and people. This was an expression of the Korean people's absolute reverence for him. |
