An internet seminar of the Asia-Pacific region on the undying feats of leader Kim Jong Il was held in Karachi, Pakistan in December last year. An appeal adopted at the seminar called on the world progressives to organize the preparatory committees for celebrating the 70th founding anniversary of the WPK and conduct more dynamic political and cultural activities to introduce Songun Korea and rev up the atmosphere of worldwide celebration by sending delegations to the celebration events to be held in Pyongyang.

The participants of the 19th seminar of the world political parties on building a new society appealed to the world communist, workers' and progressive political parties and people to celebrate the WPK's 70th birthday as an international grand political festival.

More than 70 national and joint preparatory committees and regional, political parties' and organizations' preparatory committees were formed in various countries including the Asia-Pacific region and Oceania.

Preparatory committees comprising of prominent figures of various circles of Russia were inaugurated in Khabarovsk, Nakhodka and Karelia.

The preparatory committee of the Asia-Pacific region elected famous personages of various countries and regional body as its honorary chairpersons and co-chairpersons and figures of various circles of India, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mongolia and other countries as its members and made public a statement on its inauguration.

Thanks to the positive activities of the preparatory committees, seminars, celebration meetings, book and photo exhibitions, round-table talks and film shows took place on a large scale.

Figures of various circles and persons related to the revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il keep visiting the DPRK missions and are arriving here to participate in the grand festival.
