KCNA Commentary Assails S. Korea's "Unification Diplomacy" Going against National Independence
|

Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The south Korean chief executive is busy with "unification diplomacy". She blustered that she would conduct "diverse discussion with a neighboring country of the issue of achieving earlier peace and unification on the Korean Peninsula" and develop "security dialogue" into "multi-party security dialogue for laying a groundwork of unification". It is illogical to have "discussion" and "dialogue" with outsiders by putting aside the fellow countrymen responsible for the issue of national reunification, the cherished desire of the entire Korean nation and its internal matter. No wonder, even the south Korean media are deploring the abnormal situation in which outsider has become a core party discussing reunification, criticizing it as "careless and dangerous unification discussion" and "excessive unification diplomacy". "Unification diplomacy" touted by the south Korean authorities is a revelation of the ambition for achieving "unification of social systems" at any cost as it goes against national independence in essence. The Korean nation has the charter for national reunification on which the north and the south agreed and principles on reunification common to the nation. Moreover, all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad are about to mark the 35th anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo (DFRK). The proposal is a blueprint clearly indicating the true appearance of a reunified country and the ways of realizing it. Differing ideologies and social systems have existed in the north and the south for seven decades. Under this situation the best way of reunifying the country at an early date is to found a reunified country by federal formula. The proposal is the most realistic and reasonable, fair and aboveboard proposal because whoever loves the nation and wishes for reunification can sympathize and accept it irrespective of ideology, political view, religious belief and of whether they reside in the north or in the south. But the south Korean authorities, ignoring the grand charter for building a reunified country, are boosting cooperation in a bid to put pressure on the DPRK in collusion with outsiders, openly revealing its scenario to achieve "unification of social systems". The south Korean authorities are crying out for "unification diplomacy" while clinging to the coattails of outsiders and persistently turning down the proposal of the fellow countrymen to solve the reunification issue, the national issue by their concerted efforts. Their improper attitude is chilling the hard-won atmosphere of improving the north-south relations again. Letting outsiders interfere in the internal issue of the nation, the issue of improving the north-south relations, would not be beneficial to the Korean nation. National independence is the most important principle of national reunification. No one can quench the desire and wish of the nation to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by pooling efforts of the nation. |
