The statement said the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo (DFRK) advanced by President Kim Il Sung is a realistic proposal for national reunification as it makes it possible to achieve reunification of the country in a fair manner in line with the will, demand and interests of the entire nation under the situation where the differing ideologies and social systems have existed in the north and the south.

No sooner had the proposal for founding the DFRK been published than all Koreans at home and abroad unanimously hailed it and won full support from the international community. This goes to prove the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung and the validity of the federal formula.

In fact, the proposal for achieving reunification by federal formula reflects the noble patriotic will of Kim Il Sung who attached the greatest importance to the national identity which was formed and grew strong throughout the history spanning 5,000 years and devoted his all to the work for achieving the reunification of Korea in a peaceful way as early as possible with the national identity as the basis of reconciliation, unity and reunification.
