Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- Ri Chang Bok, permanent representative of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, in a press interview on Oct. 4 called for concluding a peace treaty and settling the issue of north-south relations, according to Thongil News, an internet paper of south Korea. 8 years have passed since the historic October 4 declaration was published, he said, and went on: Had the south Korean authorities implemented the declaration, the south-north relations would have been improved and the atmosphere of peace created. The south Korean authorities have still deteriorated the south-north relations by denying the declaration. In order to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula, it is necessary to abrogate the armistice agreement and conclude a peace treaty. Only then, peace can be ensured institutionally, south-north relations be improved and the independent and peaceful reunification of the country be hastened. |
