KCNA Commentary Urges S. Korean Authorities to Think Twice
Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities are now crying out for "joint counteraction with international community," talking about "provocation in October" by someone and the "time for forces for unification diplomacy to get re-appreciation."

Their hue and cry over "joint counteraction with international community" at the crucial and sensitive time with the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) at hand is grave infringement upon the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK and another unpardonable provocation to it.

As already reported, the hard-won atmosphere of the north-south reconciliation has been put at serious peril owing to the ever-more reckless confrontation moves of the south Korean authorities in October.

A few days ago, the south Korean diplomatic authorities together with the special representative for North Korea policy of the U.S. Department of State vociferated about "reaffirmation of effective cooperation" with the U.S. to cope with "provocation by the north." Meanwhile, authorities of the south Korean ministries of Defense and Unification cried out for "full-scale operation of cooperation system" with the U.S. and trumpeted about "crucial period of cooperation."

The 8th KIDD meeting between south Korea and the U.S. agreed to put into concrete shape the "4D Operational Conception" to cope with "north Korea's ballistic missile threat" and develop it into the level of operational plan as part of the "measures for pressure" for coping with "the north's provocation in October."

At the same time, the south Korean chief executive is impudently claiming that she would zealously pursue "diplomacy for peaceful unification."

She is busy talking she would conduct "diverse discussion with a neighboring country on how to achieve peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula at an early date and develop security dialogue into multi-party security dialogue for laying a foundation of unification."

At a meeting of chief secretaries of Chongwadae on October 5 she uttered "unification should be achieved by the efforts of the south with its own initiative but international community's support and cooperation are very important." She let loose such rhetoric that "she would proactively pursue diplomacy for peaceful unification in the future, too," adding that "through the UN General Assembly she conveyed such message to international community."

These facts clearly prove that the south Korean chief executive pursues the aim of intensifying cooperation with outside forces for confrontation with the DPRK on the occasion of the October holiday of the WPK.

The more persistently the south Korean authorities peddle story about "provocation in October" and the ridiculous tale about "diplomacy for unification" at home and abroad, while feigning ignorance of their reckless provocations going against the dialogue, peace and improvement of the inter-Korean relations, the more saliently they will reveal their true colors as despicable traitors to the nation keen to stifle the fellow countrymen in the north, clinging to the coattails of outside forces.

If they have an elementary reason, they should stop at once dancing to the tune of the U.S. working hard to block the improvement of the inter-Korean relations and escalate the tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The south Korean authorities would be well advised to think twice at the crossroads of cooperation with the nation or with outside forces.
