On October 10, Juche 34 (1945) President Kim Il Sung declared before the whole world the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), a solemn declaration heralding the birth of new-type revolutionary party in the era of independence guided by the immortal Juche idea and a great event which opened up a new origin of the national history, the message said.

The President developed the WPK into the revolutionary party strong in independence, unfazed by any storm and stress, and the invincible vanguard ranks with strong sense of organization and discipline, deeply rooted among the masses, it noted.

The WPK founded and led by Kim Il Sung more powerfully demonstrated its might as the party of the leader and the guiding vanguard in the era of Songun thanks to General Kim Jong Il, it said, adding that the WPK founded and led by the great leaders is greeting a great heyday as it holds in high esteem Kim Jong Un, another peerlessly great man.

The 70 year-long history of victory and glory covered by the WPK proves in practice the immutable truth that when the great leaders are held in high esteem generation after generation, the dignity of the party is put on the highest level, national power fully demonstrated and the bright future of the nation guaranteed, it said.

It called for waging an active struggle to bring earlier the national reconciliation, unity and reunification, invariably holding aloft the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as the great programmes common to the nation in the new century, the landmarks of peace and prosperity.
