Attending it were So Ho Won, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People, and officials concerned.

On hand were delegations and personages of friendly and other organizations in different countries who are staying here to participate in the celebrations of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

Speeches were made at the meeting. They noted that the preparatory committees of different countries for celebrating the 70th anniversaries of the WPK and Korea's liberation have widely introduced the personality of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu and fully supported the Korean people's struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and justice.

Saying that 2017 will be of significance as it marks the 105th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the 75th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il and the 5th anniversary of Marshal Kim Jong Un's election as supreme leader of the DPRK, the speakers stressed the need to form in countries and regions preparatory committees for celebrating the Day of the Sun and the Day of the Shining Star in 2017 and hold various celebrations and thus glorify 2017 as an auspicious year common to humankind.

The meeting declared the start of the worldwide celebrations for 2017 and made public an appeal addressed to the progressive people of the world.
