Anniversary of Central Information and Communications Center Marked
Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- The Central Information and Communications Center in the DPRK marked its 70th founding anniversary.

It is an important center playing a pivotal role in the development of information and communications in the country as it is associated with the leadership exploits of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu.

President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the center was organized after the liberation of Korea and clearly indicated the orientation and way of its development. Visiting the center several times, he made sure that it developed into a Juche-oriented and popular post and tele-communications center making a positive contribution to the building of a rich and powerful country and to the service to the people.

Leader Kim Jong Il made sure that the center marked its foundation day on October 14, Juche 34 (1945) when it ensured telephone communications for the Pyongyang mass rally welcoming the President's historic and triumphant return home.

A meeting to mark the anniversary took place on Wednesday.

It was attended by Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea O Su Yong, Minister of Post and Telecommunications Kim Kwang Chol, officials concerned and officials and employees of the center.

A congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the workers, technicians and officials of the center was conveyed at the meeting.

The message highly appreciated the pivotal role played by the workers, technicians and officials of the center in the development of information and telecommunications of the country as they devotedly worked with warm patriotism and high responsibility for their revolutionary duty.

A report was delivered at the meeting to be followed by speeches.
