Self-Defence Capabilities Guarantee Nation's Prosperity: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea has pursued the military line for self-defence and the line of simultaneously building up the economy and defence, thereby increasing the capabilities for national defence in every way and making the miserable fate the Korean Peninsula had undergone as a theater for fierce scramble of big powers from its geopolitical position a thing in the past. This is the distinguished feats the WPK performed before the country and the nation.

Rodong Sinmun Sunday in an article says in this regard:

The military line for self-defence is the dignity and sovereignty of Songun Korea.

Arms mean the sovereignty and the nation's life. This is a bitter lesson taught by the past that without the arms one can not but lead a life of a slave. This is also the truth proved by the present world where high-handed and arbitrary practices are rampant.

The DPRK's final victory is firmly guaranteed by the capabilities for self-defence based on the nuclear deterrent.

Our arms consolidated in tempests of history serve as the eternal strength for preserving peace on the Korean Peninsula and a basic guarantee of the final victory of Songun Korea.

Our party has consistently held fast to the line and principle of giving priority to the military affairs, put forward the building of revolutionary armed forces and the bolstering of the country's defence capabilities as the priority of the state affairs and won a victory after another in the confrontation with the imperialist allied forces by relying on the powerful defence capabilities with the Korean People's Army as a core.

The dignity, sovereignty and eternal prosperity of the nation will be firmly guaranteed under the leadership of the invincible WPK along with the might of ever-thriving Songun Korea.
