All-out Action against "System of Introducing State-compiled Textbooks" Declared in S. Korea

Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Oct. 20 to declare an all-out action for checking the authorities' moves to introduce the "system of state-compiled history textbooks", according to south Korean internet paper Chamsesang.

The organization said that the authorities are working hard to project the controversy over the "system" as stand-off between the ideologies of the Left and Right but this is, in essence, provocation by pro-Japanese and dictatorial forces and resistance of democratic forces against the former.

If the authorities go ahead with this policy in utter disregard of the actual situation, the union will have no option but to launch an all-out action to nullify it, the organization warned.
