UN Has to Get Rid of Anachronistic Concept and Prejudice: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- At present the issue of the reform of the UN has become an urgent issue for the member nations that can never be postponed because the UN has not satisfactorily fulfilled its mission, being seized by anachronistic old order, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in an article.

The UN Security Council's anachronistic old concept and prejudice find their vivid manifestation in the situation created on the Korean Peninsula, the article says, and goes on:

The situation on the peninsula reached the brink of a war in last August.

By exercising its right as a member nation specified in the UN Charter the DPRK referred the aggressive and provocative large-scale joint military exercises staged by the U.S. and south Korea to the UN Security Council, branding them as acts of jeopardizing the world peace and security.

But the UN Security Council kept mum about it.

Its stand was that as the joint military exercises were spearheaded by a permanent member of the UN Security Council, it can not but close its eyes and stop its ears and mouth no matter how huge the exercises are in their scale and no matter how aggressive and dangerous they may be in their purpose and nature.

The UN can never fulfill its mission of safeguarding the international peace and security unless the international relations are democratized in the true sense of the words.

Instead, the UN will be a body hiding and defending the forces disturbing peace and security.

The UN should no longer be misused as a body for abusing sovereignty, dignity, peace and security of the member nations.

It has to get rid of anachronistic concept and prejudice at an early date and represent the will of the member nations.
