U.S. Has Neither Qualifications Nor Face to Talk about Human Rights

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of State released a report recently on the results of the examination of some 350 recommendations made by delegates of many countries at a meeting of working groups for regular examination of the universally accepted human rights under the UN Human Rights Council. In the report the U.S. openly objected to the recommendations calling for measures for halting U.S. deployment of its forces overseas, investigating tortures committed by the CIA, legal and administrative steps against U.S. forces' killing of civilians during Iraqi and Afghan wars, steps for stopping the excessive use of police force, etc. It justified its practices mentioned in the recommendations allegedly accepted by it, putting up conditionalities. Rodong Sinmun Sunday in an article says the U.S. has neither qualifications nor face to talk about human rights. The article goes on: It is not long since the U.S. appeared on the earth. Yet, it occupies a vast fertile land in North America, keeps a dense network of military bases in various parts of the world and established a dollar-dominated international monetary system. This was not the fortune brought to it by the heaven and not ascribable to the great feats performed by it in the field of human rights. All what it accomplished was the result of the robbery perpetrated against the international community. It is preposterous, indeed, for the empire of evils ill-famed for massacre and genocide to talk volumes about human rights. The U.S. would be well advised to stop taking issue with other countries over "human rights issues" and deeply reflect on the history of its hideous human rights abuses and apologize to the world for them. |
