Rodong Sinmun Denounces Japan for Denying Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- The society for settlement of the issue of "comfort women" made up of Japanese women's organizations recently urged Prime Minister Abe to take the earliest possible measures for settling the issue of "comfort women," saying Japan may miss the opportunity of making apology for it for good unless an urgent measure is taken as the survivors are at their advanced ages. A ceremony of marking the 5th anniversary of the erection of the monument to "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army took place in New Jersey State, the U.S., timed to coincide with the ever-growing voices critical of Japan's attitude toward the Japanese imperialists' crimes during the Second World War in the UN arena. Rodong Sinmun Monday in a commentary says this is a strong message to the Japanese reactionaries persistently embellishing the history of aggression of the Japanese imperialists and their crimes against humanity. Japan is making desperate efforts to cover up its past hideous crimes including drafting of a large number of women as sexual slaves, far from making an apology for them. Lurking behind such moves is a criminal intention to repeat those crimes. Japan enacted "security legislation" despite the unanimous rebuff and denunciation by the public at home and abroad. This proves what phase they have reached in their hegemonic ambition to realize the old militarist dream which they pursued to dominate the world while trumpeting about "peace in the East". The Korean Peninsula is the primary target of the Japanese reactionaries' overseas aggression. Japan tries hard to launch without hesitation aggression against the DPRK in collusion with the U.S. under the signboard of exercising the "right to collective self-defence" in a bid to realize the old dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere". Japan will suffer only destruction if it keeps rushing headlong into militarization and reinvasion while embellishing its past crimes, far from sincerely drawing a lesson from its past history. |
