Meeting Marks 70th Anniversary of Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture Monday to mark the 70th anniversary of Rodong Sinmun. Seven decades ago President Kim Il Sung founded the Workers' Party of Korea and established Jongro, predecessor of Rodong Sinmun, without delay. The President showed deep loving care and trust for the party newspaper so that it might dynamically wage an ideological and media campaign from its inception. The party newspaper greeted the heyday of its development under the guidance of leader Kim Jong Il. He wisely led Rodong Sinmun to creditably perform its mission and role as a good educator, a dynamic information worker and faithful mouthpiece in carrying out the revolutionary cause of the party at all times. Present at the meeting were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, officials, journalists and editors in the field of media, merited persons, active worker-farmer writers and members of a delegation of the Choson Sinbo Company of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan staying in the socialist homeland. Ri Yong Sik, editor-in-chief of Rodong Sinmun, said that the founding of Rodong Sinmun helped the WPK have mighty ideological vanguard for training all party members and other working people as staunch revolutionaries of Juche type and dynamically promoting the Korean revolution and the cause of human independence under the banner of independence, Songun and socialism. The reporter recalled that under the care of the great leaders and Marshal Kim Jong Un the officials, journalists, editors and employees of the newspaper have creditably performed the mission and duty they assumed before the times and the revolution. The reporter called on all the officials, journalists and e editors to dynamically wield the pens of the revolution and successfully fulfill their honorable mission as ideological standard-bearers in carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche, rallied close around the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by Kim Jong Un. |
