Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- South Korean students launched a campaign for issuing a declaration on the situation in protest against the regime's moves to introduce "state-compiled history textbooks" in a bid to revive "yusin" dictatorship. Speakers of the Korea University Network for Checking Introduction of "State-Compiled History Textbooks" at their kick-off ceremony held on Oct. 30 at the university blamed the regime for producing "state-compiled textbooks" after forming a group of writers in secrecy. This is aimed at reviving "yusin" contrary to the trend of times, they added. 7,000 students of the university took part in the campaign. Postgraduates and graduates of the university issued a statement denouncing the regime's distortion of history. At least 2,540 students of Choongang University signed the declaration on the situation in protest against the regime's introduction of "state-compiled history textbooks." On Oct. 29, the Choongang University Network for Checking Introduction of "State-compiled History Textbooks" held a press conference at the university at which it declared that its students were opposed to the regime's moves. On the same day the Seoul University Network for Checking Introduction of "State-compiled History Textbooks" held a meeting at the university and released a declaration on the situation. Speakers warned that they would launch an all-out campaign against the regime in case it fails to retract its plan to introduce "state-compiled history textbooks." |
