"State-compiled" History Textbooks to Be Introduced despite Public Opposition in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- The south Korean regime announced on Nov. 3 the system of publishing "state-compiled" history textbooks for middle and high schools despite the public opposition at home and abroad, according to south Korean KBS.

The "prime minister" and minister of Education referred to the "inevitable introduction of the system and the "Saenuri Party" is zealously supporting it.

Textbooks had been published under the screening system in south Korea.

The regime-sponsored introduction of the "state-compiled" textbooks was prompted by the ulterior design of the conservative ruling forces to embellish sycophancy and treachery and dictatorship and incite confrontation with the compatriots in the north.

People of various circles have demanded retraction of the introduction plan, terming it a "history coup" and "revival of yusin" but the regime turned a deaf ear to their voices and announced the introduction.

The south Korean regime would be well advised to lend an ear to public voices, well aware of the baneful consequences to be entailed by the serious act of reviving at any cost the system dating back to the period of the "yusin" dictatorship.
