Rodong Sinmun Discloses Aim Sought by U.S. Warmonger in Touting "Peaceful Unification" of Korea

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- The chief of Staff of the U.S. Army recently said that there is great likelihood that south and north of Korea speaking the same language as a homogeneous nation would be one country any time in the future and the unification may be achieved in a violent manner, but the U.S. wants to see "peaceful unification." He, at the same time, expressed sham concern, uttering that the Korean Peninsula is the region where there is no genuine peace as it has the densest deployment of heavily armed troops in the world and if a small conflict between the south and the north leads to a large-scale war, it will spark a tragic disaster. Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a commentary in this regard: The U.S. warmonger's talk about peaceful reunification is unpardonable insult and mockery of the Koreans who have aspired after reunification for several decades. Disclosing the U.S. military boss's sinister intention of giving impression that Washington is interested in peace and reunification of the peninsula, the commentary goes on: The DPRK's fair proposal for concluding a peace treaty enjoys unanimous support at home and abroad. International public urges the U.S., the arch criminal ratcheting up tension on the peninsula, to opt for building lasting peace-keeping mechanism as soon as possible. This is driving the U.S. into an awkward position as it is beefing up its armed forces to establish domination over Northeast Asia and Asia-Pacific region by containing big powers and ceaselessly expanding the sphere of its influence. The U.S. felt the need to seek a way out of the situation and subterfuge to justify its actions. So, the U.S. military boss talked rubbish about "peaceful unification" of Korea vociferating about the non-existent "provocation" from the DPRK. It is the U.S. trick to cover up its criminal intention of denying the DPRK's proposal for concluding a peace treaty and play down the validity of the proposal through peace rhetoric. If the U.S. is truly interested in the peace on the peninsula, it should stop escalating tension and respond to the above-said fair proposal of the DPRK. |
