The statement said that the DPRK has endeavored to replace the armistice agreement with a peace treaty. It went on:

These efforts, however, failed owing to the constant threat posed to the DPRK by the U.S.

The south Korean authorities are neither cooperating in the efforts for the conclusion of the treaty nor pondering over the consequences to be entailed by the ceaseless threatening actions which may spark off a war on the Korean Peninsula.

If a war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula, it will have catastrophic impact not only on the region but also the rest of the world.

The UN should move to ensure that the peace treaty between the DPRK and U.S. is concluded.

Only then, is it possible to denuclearize the peninsula.

We appeal to the world progressive forces to positively cooperate in the efforts to get the peace treaty concluded between the DPRK and the U.S.
