Pyongyang, November 18 (KCNA) -- Mammoth all-out people's action against the authorities' unpopular rule was staged in Seoul on Nov. 14 under the sponsorship of the all-out people's action headquarters. 150,000 people were involved in the action. They included members of at least 50 public organizations including the Confederation of Trade Unions, the National Federation of Peasants Associations, the Federation of Evacuees across south Korea and the National Teachers Union, people from all walks of life and high school students. The all-out people's action started with rallies of workers, peasants, poor people and students in different parts of Seoul. The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a 2015 rally of workers for inheriting the spirit of martyr Jon Thae-il at the Seoul Plaza at which they lambasted the authorities' retrogressive revision of the labor law and introduction of "state-compiled" history textbooks. The peasant organizations staged a rally for condemning the authorities for opening the rice market. The Federation of Evacuees across south Korea and the National Teachers Union also held rallies respectively. At the end of their rallies public organizations marched to rally at Kwanghwamun plaza. That day fascist authorities hurled tens of thousands of riot policemen into an operation for brutally cracking down on the all-out people's action. They fired tear liquid cannons at protesters at pointblank range. Due to this crackdown, an old peasant suffered a cerebral contusion and many others fell due to bone fracture and bleeding. The south Korean media reported that the all-out people's action was the largest-ever since the 2008 candlelight rally against the import of American beef and condemned the fascist police's brutal suppression of the action. |
