The symposium will hear papers introducing successes and experience gained in settling scientific and technical issues arising in designing, construction and operation of vegetable greenhouses, production of seeds of greenhouse vegetables and their cultivation. It will involve a workshop, distribution of sci-technical books, video-show, etc.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kwak Pom Gi, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea; Kye Hui Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea; Kye Yong Sam, president of the Academy of Agricultural Science; officials concerned, scientists, technicians and workers of greenhouse vegetable research institutes and production units from across the country.

Ri Chol Man, vice-premier of the Cabinet and minister of Agriculture, made an opening address.

The symposium will last till November 26.
