The measure council groups 107 organizations including the south Korean Federation of Peasants Associations, the Federation of Women Peasants Associations, the Catholic Peasants Association of south Korea and labor, human rights and religious bodies.

The measure council at a press conference held in connection with its formation accused the police of firing tear liquid and water cannons at the participants in the all-out people's action and walking off dozens of them.

It is the bitter lesson we learned that if we allow the violent action by the power, it will trample down democracy and people's living, the council held.

The council declared it would launch legal counteractions aiming at the probe into the truth behind the police's brutal suppression, heavy punishment of the chieftain, the "government's" responsible apology and prevention of its recurrence and signature campaign, candlelight action, etc.
