Present there were teachers, researchers, scientists and technicians of dozens of different units including the National Aerospace Development Administration, State Academy of Sciences, Academy of Social Sciences, Education Commission, Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology.

The symposium was divided into various panels including the panel of the satellite basic science and the panel of satellite applied technology.

It heard hundreds of papers dealing with the achievements and experience gained by scientific research and educational institutions, commissions, ministries and national institutions in the dynamic drive to develop space science and technology.

The symposium also heard papers dealing with the immortal feats performed by the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu for the nation's development of space science and the validity and vitality of the Workers' Party of Korea's policy for space development for peaceful purposes.

Introduced at the symposium were valuable papers dealing with the successes made in giving fresh solutions to the scientific and technological issues arising in the development of earth observation satellite and communications satellite and the papers on profound clarification of the issues arising in widely using the pictures provided by satellites for developing the national economy.
