Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- Defusing the danger of a war and tension on the Korean Peninsula and creating a peaceful climate is a vital issue related to the destiny of the nation and the future of the inter-Korean relations, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in an article. It goes on: Nothing is dearer to the Korean nation than peace. It is the steadfast stand and will of the DPRK to defuse the tension and achieve lasting peace on the peninsula. The DPRK urged the south Korean authorities to stop all war moves including their reckless military drills being staged with outside forces and opt for defusing the tension and creating a peaceful climate on the peninsula at the outset of this year. Then it also took exceptional measures to defuse the tension and preserve the peace. However, the south Korean authorities did not stop the joint military drills with outside forces despite the DPRK's noble patriotic measures for creating a peaceful climate. On the contrary, they escalated them. It is an unpardonable act of treachery for them to tighten the collusion and nexus with the U.S. desperately pursuing its hostile policy toward the DPRK and stepping up the moves for invading the north to meet its aggressive interests in disregard of the destiny of the Korean nation. It is an urgent national task to defuse the danger of war and provide peaceful environment on the peninsula. It is the unanimous desire of all the Koreans to pave the way for peace and reunification by their concerted efforts without letting the north and the south fight each other. The joint military drills with outside forces should be stopped in south Korea and lasting peace should settle on the peninsula. The south Korean authorities should drop their daggers for confrontation and war hidden behind their belts and make a switchover to defuse tension and create a peaceful climate on the peninsula. |
