The conference held on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the union analyzed and reviewed successes and experience gained in the work of the primary organizations in the past and discussed the tasks and ways for further firmly consolidating the GFTUK to be militant organization devotedly defending Marshal Kim Jong Un, true to his idea and leadership.

Present at the conference were Ri Il Hwan, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, chairpersons of exemplary primary organizations and officials of the trade unions in Pyongyang and local areas.

Ju Yong Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, said in his report made at the conference that President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il attached great importance to strengthening its primary organizations in the whole period of leading the revolution and wisely led them to enhance their functions and roles.

He went on:

Kim Il Sung provided the precious tradition of building the working class' mass political organization in the flames of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, founded the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea on Nov. 30, Juche 34 (1945) and established a well-organized working system from its central committee to primary organizations.

Kim Jong Il clarified with lucidity the basic mission of the primary organizations of the GFTUK when he was conducting his revolutionary activities among workers at the Pyongyang Trolley Bus Factory and Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory.

The Juche-oriented idea of the great leaders on the trade union-building and their exploits are being successfully carried forward by Kim Jong Un at a fresh higher level.

He called upon all primary organizations and their members to remain loyal to the leadership of Kim Jong Un while holding Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the sun of Juche forever.

Speakers underscored the need for further strengthening the primary organizations to let all members of the trade unions turn out in an all-out onward movement for greeting the 7th Congress of the WPK with high political enthusiasm and unprecedented labor successes.
