The contest will be held in Pyongyang, Sariwon, Samjiyon and other places. Players will compete in football, ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating, short track speed skating and skiing games.

Present there were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Ro Tu Chol, chairman of the State Planning Commission and vice-chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, officials concerned, sportspersons and working people.

Kim Yong Hun, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.

The opening ceremony was followed by men's ice hockey game between the Taesongsan Sports Team and the Pyongyang Railway Bureau Sports Team.
