Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- The army and people of the DPRK now recollect with deep emotion the history of the State Merited Chorus, upon receiving the news that the Chorus and the Moranbong Band are on a friendship visit to China. The Chorus has served as a bugler of the Songun (military-first) revolution. It is a famous art troupe of the DPRK which has made praiseworthy contributions to the advance of the socialist cause and human history of literature and art. The immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung" was the first song it put on the stage of its premiere. During the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), the Chorus encouraged soldiers to annihilate the invaders. After the war, it instilled into the minds of the army and people the spirit of devotedly defending the leader by successfully representing "Cantata to Marshal Kim Il Sung". Even in the period of the Arduous March, the forced march, it conducted a brisk performing activities to arouse all the servicepersons and civilians to the defence of socialism with the immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Jong Il" and other revolutionary and militant songs. In his lifetime, leader Kim Jong Il used to say the Chorus greatly encouraged him and its performances represented what he wanted to say to the people. Now, under the wise guidance of supreme leader Kim Jong Un, the Chorus plays an important role in inspiring all the people to the general offensive for final victory with martial strains of such revolutionary songs as "We Will Go to Mt. Paektu" and "Let's Not Abandon Revolutionary Faith Though One May Die". |
