DPRK People Enjoy New Year's Day
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- The citizens in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are replete with joy and happiness, greeting the new year Juche 105.

Streets and villages across the country were crowded with citizens enjoying happy New Year's Day.

In the capital city of Pyongyang many people visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il to pay floral tributes to them.

Art performances were given at theaters and cultural houses in Pyongyang and local areas to delight the citizens on New Year's Day.

There were also folklore amusement games of working citizens and schoolchildren, such as yut-game, kite-flying and shuttlecock game, adding to festive mood. Kites, flown by schoolchildren, were carrying letters reading "Thriving Korea", "Socialist civilization" and "Happiness".

Public catering establishments served traditional foods as well as grilled roe deer and noodles with minced pheasant meat, while Munsu Water Park, Mirim Riding Club and other sports and cultural establishments were packed with visitors.

On the evening of Friday, the first of the year, fireworks were displayed in Pyongyang. Enjoying the fireworks, citizens expressed their deep gratitude to supreme leader Kim Jong Un who has worked heart and soul for the country's prosperity and the people's welfare.
