Korean People's Cause of National Reunification Supported by Foreign Media
Pyongyang, January 3 (KCNA) -- Uruguayan and Brazilian media carried articles supporting the Korean people's cause of national reunification.

The Uruguayan paper La Juventud on Dec. 19 last year carried an article illustrated with a portrait of smiling President Kim Il Sung.

The article said that Kim Il Sung, eternal leader of the Korean people, advanced the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo at the historic Sixth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in October, 1980 to indicate the most correct orientation and way for the country's reunification. The article went on:

Leader Kim Jong Il ushered in the June 15 era of reunification out of his noble patriotism, opening up a bright prospect for national reunification.

This was unanimously supported and welcomed by all the Koreans as well as the international community as the joint declaration was the only agreement reached between the north and south over the mode of reunification in the long history of national division.

The article urged the international community to support the proposal for reunification by federal formula, being aware that anachronistic ambition for "unification through absorption" sought by the south Korean authorities would only bring a war.

On the same day, the Brazilian Committee for Solidarity with the DPRK posted on its website an article urging the south Korean authorities not to bring the issue of national reunification, internal issue of the nation, here and there but make clear their attitude towards the mode of reunification reached between the north and south.
