Demolition of Concrete Wall and Conclusion of Peace Treaty Demanded
Pyongyang, January 3 (KCNA) -- Helmi El Hadidi, chairperson of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization, made public a statement on December 25 last year in demand of the demolition of the concrete wall built in the area south of the Korean Peninsula and the conclusion of a peace treaty between the DPRK and the U.S.

Seven decades have passed since Korea was divided by the U.S. and 36 years have passed since the south Korean authorities built the concrete wall to divide the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, and went on:

The concrete wall is the symbol of the national division and a big physical obstacle in the way of improving the inter-Korean relations, ensuring peace and achieving the reunification of Korea.

Once the concrete wall is removed and the Armistice Agreement is replaced by a peace treaty, the demilitarized zone will turn into a peace zone and a bright prospect will be opened for inter-Korean dialogue, exchange and economic cooperation, which are of important significance for hastening reunification and prosperity of Korea.

This will be a great contribution to boosting economic cooperation in Northeast Asia and achieving world peace and security.

The Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization strongly demands the south Korean authorities pull down the concrete wall at an early date and the U.S. respond to the proposal of the DPRK for replacing the Armistice Agreement by a peace treaty for peace, security and economic development in Northeast Asia.
